LINKING NEIGHBORS TO SERVICES

The intent of MORE is to connect people with their neighbors and with resources through a service delivery system that is shaped and operated by the poor.  MORE's key goal is to help establish an ability to be self-sufficient within poor communities which translates into minimized dependence on social programs.  By linking neighbors to each other, they help themselves, each other and build a sense community all at the same time.

Linkages are created to form the bridges into, between, and within the neighborhoods, connecting neighbors to one another and to much needed resources. The Linkage Network involves a variety of methods to link neighbors to each other. These include:

The residents of the service areas monitor the services provided and determine what additional services/ resources are needed through neighborhood MORE Boards.  The MORE Boards are comprised of concerned neighbors who meet monthly to discuss community issues.  Through these Boards, neighbors oversee the operations of the entire MORE system.
