ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Volunteer medical staff with the Sathya Sai Baba Organization of America, Mid-Central Region in St. Louis, and staff from Grace Hill Neighborhood Health Centers conducted a free health fair June 7 for dozens of residents living in and around the Soulard area.
The event took place at Grace Hill’s Soulard-Benton Health Center, 2220 Lemp. Also participating in the event were representatives from the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital; community physicians, nurses, paramedics, and volunteers.
Screenings included dental checks; women’s health, and free mammogram registration; pediatrics; nutrition, blood pressure, cholesterol and anemia checks; as well as free consultations from doctors on site. The Sathya Sai Baba organization organizes health fairs on a regular basis at various locations to reach out to populations in need. Alderman Lewis Reed, president of the board of alderman for St. Louis, attended, as well as Alderwoman Phyllis Young.
A part of St. Louis for more than 100 years, Grace Hill consists of sister organizations—Grace Hill Settlement House (GHSH) and Grace Hill Health Centers, Inc.
Grace Hill Health Centers, Inc. (GHHC) was formed in 1906. We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation and a federally qualified health center. GHNHC provides primary and preventive health care through five community health centers serving low income and uninsured residents in 45 census tracts in the City of St. Louis and surrounding communities.
