The MORE Home is a large Victorian
house located in Hyde Park. The home is transitional housing for
non-substance abusing women. It serves women and their dependent
children at risk of homelessness.
The MORE Home helps families stabilize
their lives in a supportive setting while providing them with essential
life skills.
Residents of the home share bathrooms, living room, dining
room and kitchen, but they have their own private bedrooms.
While residing
at the home residents must be actively seeking a job, employed or
attending school. They contribute a small amount of their income each
month towards rent and groceries. They are also required to commit an
agreed-upon amount to a savings account to assist them when they move into
permanent housing.
72 families were served in 1999.
