Career Center

In 1987, with funding from Enterprise Foundation Grant, Grace Hill launched its' highly successful Career Center Program.  Participants are assigned to a case manager, together client and case manager study the client's past employment history, identify potential employment barriers and solutions, determine training needs and establish goals.  For instance, a participant may be experiencing difficulty with housing but before housing can be secured he/she must be employed.  The Case Manager may be able to assist in locating temporary housing so that the participant can secure employment.  Once employment is secured the participant is better equipped to find permanent housing.  The case manager continues to provide on-going job coaching for six months.

In 2002, two hundred fifty-seven (257) individuals were serviced by the Employment Program at Grace Hill's Career Center.  One hundred and twenty-one participants (121), many who were subsisting on welfare, were successfully placed in a number of jobs throughout the St. Louis/St. Louis County area; ninety-eight (98) were still employed six (6) months later.
