Dental
Services are provided through the Grace
Hill and Water Tower Health Centers,
as well as to several homeless shelters through the new Mobile
Dental Van.
Grace
Hill has four experienced dentists on staff that
served 4,183 patients for 8,372
encounters in 2001. Patients needing specialty or surgical services beyond
those provided by Grace Hill staff are referred to collaborating dentists.
Grace
Hill continued its efforts to recruit additional
dentists and was fortunate in recruiting a volunteer dentist on a part
time basis.
In addition to dental services provided through the
two clinic sites, Grace Hill dentists provided screening and cleaning
services to children at neighboring day care and Head Start centers; as
well as to the homeless at various area homeless shelters.
The
Mobile Dental Team
Grace
Hill was able to initiate a Mobile
Dental Team
program
for homeless individuals using a
supplemental award from the Bureau of Primary Health Care in 2001.
Through
this grant, Grace Hill was able to purchase a
customized van and portable dental equipment, including a portable folding
dental chair, portable X-ray unit, portable sterilizer and other
supplies.
