Mission

Goals

Federal Program

Head Start is a federal program, which provides a full range of developmental and social service programs for low-income, pre-school age children and their families including child development, health, family and community partnership services.  The federal agency that manages Head Start is the  Head Start Bureau, Administration for Children and Families of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Settlement House

Since 1903, Grace Hill Settlement House has provided innovative programs and services designed to build on the strengths of neighbors and families with dignity and respect as they are faced with the challenges of poverty and related issues of education, employment, housing and health care.  Its success is grounded in a “neighbors helping neighbors” philosophy that creates a real sense of community and caring

Mission Statement

Grace Hill Head Start will enhance the social and educational competence of 3-5 year old children, in order to be kindergarten ready by:

Providing a supportive, engaging and exciting learning environment in both center-based and home-based options through culturally representative and quality, comprehensive services.

Involving families and neighbors in advocacy that advances the cause of family and neighborhood stability.

Goals

The goal of Grace Hill Head Start is to annually engage 1,500 children and their families in the process of learning in order to successfully prepare them for   Kindergarten and beyond.
