POSITION TITLE:             Health Center Manager

 

REPORTS TO:                    Vice President, Health Center Management

 

STATUS/HOURS:               Regular/Full-time (evenings and Saturdays as scheduled)   

                                                                                                                                                           

SALARY RANGE:              $ 45,429.00 - $ 68,144.00 Annually

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for the overall planning, management, implementation and coordination of the nursing care services and non-clinical functions provided in the clinic.  The Health Center Manager trains and evaluates clinic staff i.e. nurse, health assistants, medical assistants, security guard, receptionist, etc.  The Health Center Manager ensures that the participants are appropriately screened and patient flow is efficient and well coordinated.  The Health Manager ensures that the clinic communication with other program staff and other people involved in the care of the patients is appropriate and timely.   

 

POSTION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education:   Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing required.  Master’s Degree preferred.

 

Experience: Eight (8) years experience in a clinic, hospital, and/or community health nursing setting; minimum four (4) years supervisory or management experience in community health, or ambulatory health care setting.

1.       Works on-call per assigned schedule for Saturday clinic sessions. 

6.2.       Demonstrates the clinical knowledge and judgment to utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, provide, supervise and evaluate patient care.

3.       Ability to perform in a variety of situations and provide direction and support in an appropriate manner.

4.       Exercises initiative and flexibility.

5.       Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

6.       Able to plan, organize and meet deadlines, taking into account changing priorities.

7.       Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, medical staff, and the public; able to be congenial with other employees, customers and vendors at all times.

8.       Good computer skills including Microsoft office programs.

9.       Demonstrates management skills to orient, schedule and coordinate staff.

10.  Ability to constructively supervise staff.

 

 

 

Residency and Transportation Requirement:

 

1.       Preference given to residents of the Grace Hill service area.

2.       Must possess a valid driver’s license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.

 

License(s)/Certificate(s) Required:  

 

1.  Licensed as Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Missouri.

2.  CPR certification required

 

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

 

Essential Functions

 

1.       Directs office clinical activities, including patient assessments, care plan development, service level determination, on-site client visits, and complaint management.  Implements, coordinates, maintains, and evaluates care plans.

2.       Oversees clinic triage and patient flow and delegates tasks to ensure that the clinic functions safely and efficiently.

3.       Ensures service quality and participates in care coordination to ensure proper communication between clinical staff, patients, referral sources and payers.  Discuss operational issues; updates staff on new or changed regulations and review records sources, participate at health fairs.

4.       Assists in providing nursing services to patients as ordered by the provider in a timely manner. 

5.       Offers nursing consultation to other staff members as appropriate.

6.       Provides discipline-specific orientation and on-going training to clinic nurses, medical assistants, health assistants, etc.

7.       Participates in performance improvement activities, provide backup support to staff, and prepares reports for management.

8.       Provides teaching, counseling, and health education to the patient and patient family members regarding nursing care needs.

9.       Provide administrative supervision to include staff scheduling and assignments, cross-coverage and cross training for staff, recruitment.

10.   Interview, hire and train staff.

11.   Develop and maintain a working relationship with all providers and the health care team members involved in the care of the patient.

12.   Assist the Vice President of Health Center Management in the development and implementation of policies and procedures

13.   Initiate purchase requests and work orders; monitor inventory and the utilization and storage of medical and office supplies.

14.   Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Marginal Functions: 

 

1.       Promotes public awareness of agency services through community education activities and participates in professional organizations.

2.       Maintains current practice knowledge through internal/external programs and acts as a resource for the interpretation of clinical standards and policies.

3.       Participate in the evaluation of new and existing services.
