POSITION TITLE: Grants, Planning and Communications Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Vice President, Planning and Development and
Director of Communications
STATUS / HOURS: Regular/Full-time (Evenings and Weekends as scheduled)
SALARY RANGE: $ 29,850.00 - $ 40,385.00 Annually
POSITION SUMMARY: Identify and research funding sources to support existing and planned health programs and activities through the development, submission and monitoring of grant proposals to federal, state, local and private funding sources. Provide technical writing assistance for grant proposal process. Develop and conduct community health assessments using primary and secondary data sources. Provide community and program planning assistance based on Needs Assessment. Assist the Director of Communications in developing and writing news releases for internal and external audiences.
Education: Bachelors Degree, preferably in Social Services, Public Health or related field.
Experience:
1. Three (3) years of writing federal, state, and private grants.
2. Three (3) years experience in conducting community health assessment and planning,
3. One (1) year experience using “grants.gov” grants process.
4. One (1) year experience in journalistic-style writing and editing, or writing for a news publication.
Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
1. Ability to pro-actively seek out and generate new income streams and research new opportunities.
2. Familiarity with the “network” of non-profit health care revenue sources.
3. Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, along with extensive organizational skills.
4. Ability to research, analyze and present health data. Experience navigating data sources and web sites, including the US Census Bureau.
5. The ability to compile, analyze and present data and statistics in a manner appealing to grant reviewers.
6. The ability to utilize the internet as a research tool. Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe software applications as well as other office programs and equipment (e-mail, copier, scanner, etc.)
7. Work well independently, as a member of a team, and to work efficiently/thrive in a deadline driven environment.
8. Ability to write news and human interest stories, willingness to learn other communications related skills and activities. (A writing sample will be required)
Residency and Transportation Requirement:
1. Preference given to residents of a Grace Hill service area
2. Must possess a valid driver’s license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions:
1. Lead and/or assist with coordination, preparation, and submission of a variety of grant applications to State, Federal, and local government funding agencies, local, national, and corporate foundations, as well as other funding sources, with an emphasis on government proposals.
2. Identify, read, analyze, and summarize Notices of Funding Availability, Request for Application/Proposals, and other funding announcements for consideration by management and program staff.
3. Correlate funding opportunities with agency needs, and work closely with Executive Vice President, Planning and Development and Director of Communications to submit funding proposals within strict guidelines and deadlines.
4. Utilize knowledge of scoring criteria, as well as funding cycles and sources, to produce high quality proposals that specifically address the goals, objectives, and expectations of individual funding agencies/opportunities.
5. Maintain a portfolio of funding sources to support Grace Hill’s mission and strategic plan.
6. Maintain files and data base on all pertinent information and statistics used in grant writing.
7. Develop and maintain tracking template for funded projects – maintain contracts, schedule of reports due and meet all grant deadlines.
8. Conduct periodic community health and needs assessments and assist with compiling socio-demographic data using Census Bureau, Health Department and other agency websites and data sources.
9. Help produce news releases by developing questions, conducting interviews, and writing compelling stories for internal and external audiences.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
1. Maintain positive relationships within the community.
2. Attend agency meetings as required.
3. Prepare graphs, charts and other visuals to present socio-demographic data.
4. Assist with the development of budgets and planning process for various grants.
