POSITION TITLE:    Family Service Manager (3)                                                                    08/07

 

REPORTS TO:           Managing Director -- Neighborhood Organization Programs

 

HOURS:                     Full Time (Week-ends as scheduled)

 

SALARY RANGE:     $45,429 - $68,144 Annually   

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinate support activities for Head Start families.  Provide direct supervision to case management staff. Direct the integration of internal and external support services to strengthen families and Grace Hill Head Start Centers thereby increasing neighborhood capacity.  Maintain performance levels of Head Start Program activities according to Head Start standards. Oversee the integration of Head Start with other Grace Hill programs, specifically services and activities of the MORE System. 

 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education:  Masters Degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field.

 

Experience:   Two (2) years experience in program management and supervising staff. 

Three (3) years experiences working with diverse economically disadvantage families.

7.       Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards.

8.       Strong computer skills.

 

Residency and Transportation Requirement:

 

1.       Preference given to residents of a Grace Hill service area

2.       Must possess a valid driver’s license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

 

Essential Functions

1.       Implement goals, policies, and activities designed to implement family support activities i.e. social services, parent involvement and volunteer services.

2.       Develop and implement an annual Social Service work plan that includes parent and family involvement; to include a system to monitor program activities outlined in the work plan.

3.       Act as liaison for the program with service organizations, local businesses and donors. 

4.       Assist with parent orientation sessions.

5.       Assist in the development and updating of the Community Resource Directory.

6.       Assist in coordinating and the accuracy of recruitment, screening and enrollment of eligible children and their families in the program.

7.       Establish and maintain a current record keeping system with adequate provisions for confidentiality, including data entry.

8.       Ensure all child/family files are complete, current and accurate.

9.       Plan, develop, and provide training (workshops and classes) for families, staff and the community in the fields of social services, parent involvement, case management, advocacy, community organization, substance abuse prevention and treatment, job placement, and economic self-sufficiency, etc.

10.    Develop linkages between Grace Hill and other social service agencies to better assist Head Start families.

11.    Supervise and train Case Managers in providing direct individual and/or group services to families, helping them to identify social service needs, as well as planning and establishing goals and action plans.

12.    Provide technical input and assistance that ensure support of the family support services unit to other components, including health, nutrition, speech/language, disabilities, etc.

13.    Oversee the integration of MORE system activities and services including the MORE Time Dollar Exchange.

14.    Design and implement Father Involvement programs and activities.

15.    Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Marginal Functions

 

1.        Work as a team member with Head Start staff and Neighborhood Organization staff.

       2.  Attend and participate in Grace Hill staff meetings.

                        Students/Volunteers

May work at more than one Grace Hill site as requested; site assignments may be changed periodically.
